Travel Insurance for a single trip
Introduction
If you are only taking one holiday during the year you should opt for a Single Trip Travel Policy. When booking you will need to give the start and end of your trip and cover will apply between those dates.
Policies to suit you
Cancellation cover, though, will start immediately from the date of purchase. Depending on your destination you can choose UK, Europe, Australia & New Zealand or Worldwide cover. Whether you are travelling alone, as a couple or in a family unit you can choose the policy best suited for your requirements. Your age is a factor in determining the price of a policy, it is the age you are when you take the policy out – not your age when you travel. If you have your personal possessions covered on your house insurance you can opt to have the baggage cover removed from the policy. As long as your trip does not exceed 31 days in duration, we can cover for a single trip to anywhere in the world. You can also purchase a policy to cover you for a trip within the UK. Single trip policies are only available to UK residents and will only cover a holiday that starts and ends in this country.
Reasons to be insured
The increase in cheap, no-frills flights have made mini breaks to Europe more popular – and over half of those who go abroad for long weekends feel that they don’t require the protection of travel insurance as they are not away for long enough. Individuals sometime opt for risk rather than insurance, they think that as it's only them and a few possessions it's not worth taking out insurance. But what if you travel as a family? More people, more money and more chance of something going wrong. Travelling with children is quite a different proposition. You may assume that a policy will only cover you while you are actually away on holiday. But what if you became ill, were called for jury service, made redundant or had your home burgled just before you were due to go on holiday? A Travel Insurance policy would cover you for travel and accommodation costs already paid if you were unable to travel. So without the cancellation cover that an insurance policy provides, you would not be reimbursed for any expenses already incurred. Any travel insurance policy must start and end in the UK and cover cannot be extended once you have left the country.
